Making career decisions can be a challenging and complex process. Recently, I found myself contemplating whether to leave my current job for a new opportunity in a different project. However, before I could make a final decision, my boss requested a meeting to discuss my intentions. This conversation proved to be a valuable opportunity for self-reflection and understanding. During our meeting, my boss inquired about the reasons behind my desire to leave. While I couldn't openly disclose that the new workplace offered better salary and working conditions, I realized that it was important to present my motivations in a way that would be understood and respected. In Vietnamese culture, saving face is highly valued, and it was crucial for me to maintain professionalism and integrity throughout the conversation. I explained to my boss that taking the new job would allow me to spend more time with my family, especially my children who had recently started school. Although I couldn't be certain if my boss fully understood the true reasons behind my decision, I appreciated the fact that he respected my choice. He acknowledged the potential loss that the project would face if I were to leave and suggested that I reconsider my decision. This showed me that my contributions were valued and that my boss genuinely cared about my professional growth and well-being.
